‘What a team!’ Journey9 calls up Tree Communications to deliver PR for the Northwest Football Awards 2013

Journey9, rights owners and producers of the glittering Northwest Football Awards, has selected Manchester based, Tree Communications, to help ensure the 2013 event on November 4, is the best and highest profile Awards ceremony yet.

The Tree squad, including company director, Sarah Gormley, and experienced local sports journalist, Trevor Baxter, are delighted to be involved in one of the highlights on the North West footballing calendar.

They are looking to maximise the popularity of the game in the region from the Premier League through to grassroots level. Tree will be working with key media partners and stakeholders to boost coverage of an event that has grown in popularity and importance every season.

Sarah Gormley, Director of Tree Communications said:“We’re very excited to be working with the North West Football Awards 2013.

“We’ve always had a passion for sport having handled the marketing communications for many international sporting events.

“I have worked on the World Swimming Championships, the World Lacrosse Championships, NBA basketball, the European Taekwondo Championships and now the World Squash Championships (26th Oct-3rd Nov). So, it is thrilling to at last be working on Manchester’s biggest sporting export - football.”

“Last year’s event was a huge success and we hope we can work together with the Journey9 and Northwest Football Awards team to take it to the next level.

“I knew Laura Wolfe by reputation only from her time working at the Institute of Directors so it’s now a privilege to be working with her too.”

Trevor Baxter, known for his extensive work with the Manchester Evening News, added: ”Having attended several NWFA evenings in a journalistic capacity, it will be intriguing and exciting to be involved from the other side of the fence!”

Laura Wolfe, Managing Director from Journey9 and the Northwest Football Awards, explained: “Having bought the Northwest Football Awards in June 2012 and delivering our first event last November, it was crucial for us to secure the right PR partner to help us build on what was an amazing first year for Journey9’s involvement in the NWFA.  Tree was recommended to us and we wasted no time in bringing them on board.  There are some exciting announcements coming soon and we are really looking forward to working closely with Sarah and Trevor to raise the profile of the NWFA brand over the coming months.”

The Northwest Football Awards will take place on Monday, 4th November 2013 at The Point, Lancashire County Cricket Club.  The Awards are open for entries at www.northwestfootballawards.com and voting for the player categories will open this week, in line with the start of the 2013/2014 football season.
